At 6 am on Sunday, November 11th outside Hemblington Church, organist Rory Marsden played “Battle’s O’er” on the Great Highland Bagpipes. This was part of an event called “Battle’s Over – A Nation’s Tribute” organised by the College of Piping, whose aim was to get 1,000 pipers from all over the world to play this march at 6am local time.
The 1st Blofield & Brundall Scouts were represented by Rusty, Dez and Tyler where they joined in with the solemn and fitting tribute to the sacrifices made by so many people 100 years ago.
Afterwards, there was a convivial and reviving breakfast in Hemblington Church coffee, croissants, butter, jam etc. Everybody was welcome! There was also a collection for the “Battle’s Over” charities: The Royal Naval Association, The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, The Soldiers’ Charity and The Merchant Navy Association.
